Crowder Awarded Construction Excellence Award at CAGC Convention

Charlotte, NC – February 8, 2022 – Crowder Construction Company was recently honored by the Carolinas Association of General Contractors (CAGC) at the 101st Annual Convention in Charleston, SC. Crowder was awarded the CAGC Construction Excellence Award for the Plum Island Wastewater Treatment Plant – Phase III Capital Improvements project, one of seven projects recognized by CAGC Pinnacle Award judges as projects of distinction.

The $62 million CMAR project for Charleston Water included major modifications to the 36 MGD Plum Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. Crowder began the project in March 2016, working with design firm Hazen and Sawyer. The company self-performed 70% of the work at the site with its own skilled craft workforce. Specialized trades included electrical, all equipment installations, above/underground piping, concrete finishing and forming, and open excavations.

“We are proud of our work on this project and the widespread benefits it provides to the Charleston community,” said B.J. Christman, Vice President and Division Manager for Crowder’s Civil & Environmental Divisions. “The improvements ensure reliability and sustainability of critical infrastructure, and support Charleston Water in its mission to protect public health and the environment of its service area.”

The CAGC Pinnacle Awards competition is co-sponsored by CPA firm GreerWalker LLP and the law firm of Johnston, Allison & Hord, both based in Charlotte. Congratulations to the 2020-2021 Pinnacle Award winners and Construction Excellence winners! Learn more about the CAGC Pinnacle Awards here.
