The Design-Build Institute of America has selected B.J. Christman, Division Manager of Crowder Construction Company, to join the DBIA Water/Wastewater Markets Committee. B.J. Christman will join other professionals working in the water/wastewater industry to promote policy and procedures that enhance the benefits of Design-Build.
DBIA represents the design and construction industry with an objective to provide education, training, networking, and support to individuals and firms with an interest in utilizing Design-Build to procure projects. Members of DBIA include firms and individuals with varying levels of Design-Build experience. Owners, architects, engineers, contractors, specialty subcontractors, and support organizations come together to share experiences and lessons learned.
B.J.’s career has been developed in the water and wastewater industry, completing projects through both traditional bid and Design-Build procurement. He is an advocate for collaborative delivery methods.
“We are excited to see collaborative delivery methods now being used for public and private projects throughout the Carolinas,” said B.J. “Crowder has found this delivery tool produces outstanding projects which overcome obstacles, reduce cost, and minimize risk for all stakeholders – owners, designers, and contractors.”
The DBIA Water/Wastewater Committee provides input into the program content for the Annual Water/Wastewater Conference; collaborates with other industry organizations to assess and update best practices specific to Water/Wastewater projects; and educates and informs through programs, materials, published guidelines, and networking opportunities. The Committee’s mission is to help DBIA to promote the value of Design-Build project delivery and support the effective integration of design and construction services to ensure success for owners and practitioners.
