Evoqua/Tronox Dewatering Facility
Crowder Industrial was contracted to install a dewatering facility at the Tronox Plant in Hamilton, MS. The dewatering facility will be owned and operated by Evoqua Water Technologies. The scope consisted of (3) Filter Press’ that are the largest ever built to date and put into service by Evoqua. The Filter Press’ are supported by 180-ton of fabricated structural steel that was provided by Crowders own fabrication shop in Spartanburg, SC. Three 300,000gal Slurry Tanks contain the stockpiled material that is fed from the owners containment ponds, via underground HDPE piping. The slurry is dispersed throughout the process facility by way of (3) slurry feed pumps, while solids are transported by several hundred feet of belt conveyors. The system also contains (3) Cloth Wash pumps and (3) skid mounted squeeze water pumps to support operations. All slurry, process water, plant air and service water is conveyed by approximately 6,000LF of piping. Equipment and steel is supported by 2,100cyd of concrete. Several feet of unsuitable bearing soils was required to be undercut with structural, compactable fill replaced. All equipment is powered by a newly installed 13.2KVa transformer, 4,000amp switchboard, MCC and 80,000ft of power distribution and control wire. All equipment, with exception of tank farm, is housed in a 20,000sqft pre-engineered metal building.
